Folkestone

Folkestone is a port town on the English Channel, in Kent, south-east England.

Folkestone is near to two important Battle of Britain landmarks – the Battle of Britain Memorial, Capel-le-Ferne and the Kent Battle of Britain Museum. The Leas Lift, a Victorian water lift connects the Leas with the beach. Folkestone harbour was constructed in 1809, and is the major landmark of the town. The Folkestone White Horse is carved on Cheriton Hill above the Channel Tunnel terminal. The Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty includes part of the town area.

Rail

The domestic services from Folkestone use the Central and West stations on the South Eastern Main Line. Passengers can change at Folkestone West for the onward journey through the Channel Tunnel, connecting the Channel Tunnel to London.
